"Education is a natural process carried out by the child and is not acquired by listening to words but by experiences in the environment"
- Maria Montessori
In Stepping Stones Early Learning Centre, we acknowledge each child learns and develops in their own time and at their own pace. Due to the expansion of the ECCE scheme our age range has increased. To accommodate this expansion we have separated our preschool into two rooms – a junior and senior room.
Our Junior Room
Our junior room is designed to accommodate children in their first year of preschool. The environment is laid out to inspire meaningful play experiences for children aged 3-4 year olds. The Aistear curriculum framework underpins the care and education we provide and children are encouraged and supported to learn and develop to their full potential.
While attending our junior room your child will become familiar with routine, build meaningful relationships and develop their confidence and independence in a secure and fun environment.

Our Senior Room
Our senior room is designed to support children’s progress from our junior room where their learning continues to be scaffolded by our preschool teachers. Materials and equipment are age and stage appropriate and children are invited to manipulate these resources in their own individual way.
Our senior classroom entices children to develop and explore higher thinking skills, pre-literacy skills while continuing to support their emotional and social development. The classroom environment also supports children’s progression to primary level education. Please see our Transitions section of our website for more information on this.
